Collages & Storyboards How long have you been photographing weddings? I have been photographing weddings professionally for the past seven years. However I have been studying the art of photography for over ten years now. Wedding photography for me just kind of happened. It began as a favor to friends and family members and the referrals just began to roll in. It wasn't long before I realized what a need there was for affordable, professional wedding photography in the Madison area. I have a BA in Art Education and began my career working full time as a high school art teacher in addition to photographing weddings. Do you have any references? Absolutely. You can email me for a list of names, phone numbers, or email addresses of references. I strongly believe in privacy, which is why names are not published on this website. However you may read some testimonials of previous clients at the very bottom of this page. What kind of equipment do you use? My primary cameras are all Canon professional line of cameras with a variety of specialty lenses to accommodate all lighting conditions. I shoot 100% digital. Traditional or Photojournalistic? Traditional: The 'traditional' photographer will attempt to make a perfect portrait from each shot. Most shots would be posed or set up. This approach requires the photographer to guide the couple and to manipulate many of the day's events and in effect take more time. Photojournalistic: A photojournalistic photographer covers a wedding by observing and recording the highlights. They create a story-telling sequence for the couple to remember their day by. It requires the photographer to be versatile in their skills as they adapt for each moment. This allows them to record the day, yet remain as unobtrusive as needed. I tend to shoot my weddings in a style that more closely resembles that of the Photojournalist. This allows you to more thoroughly enjoy your day and I find the images capture a lot more genuine emotions. Of course every family wants some of the traditional photographs of the wedding party, family and of course the bride and groom; and I am happy to oblige. Can I have some pictures in Black and White? Absolutely, I give you a mix of Color images, and Black and White images. The ratio between the two is based on your personal preferences. One of the biggest bonuses to digital is it's versatility. Now any image can be made black and white even long after the wedding day. When assembling your proofs I will make an artistic judgement on how an image should appear. Should you or your family prefer that an image be in color rather then black and white it's no problem to adjust to each individual preference. How many pictures do you take at a wedding? On average, about 800 -1000 images for a full days coverage. The actual number varies based on the coverage you select, size of the wedding party, number of guests attending, number of additional locations, etc. Sometimes… I work just fine alone. Unless your wedding party is made up of 10 couples or your wedding day schedule is especially rushed I can shoot any wedding alone, no problem. I can organize a group faster then I can verbalize what I want to an assistant, it’s become second nature. I have a few assistants that I use on occasion and all are wonderful. An assistant photographer is not guaranteed for your wedding unless specifically requested at the time of your contract signing. How long before I can see my proofs? On average, the online proofs are posted 2-3 weeks after your wedding date. They are then available on a password protected site so that you can share them with all of your friends and family. This is a secure site so your friends and family can order pictures directly off the site! You will not have to worry about collecting money and delivering enlargements for people. Of course you may also order directly through me if computer access is not available. Your physical proof album takes a little bit longer and is usually available 4-6 weeks after the wedding. Do I get to keep the proofs? Absolutely! The proofs are yours to keep. You will receive a proof album and a 4x6 print of each image shot at your wedding. All of the images are clearly labeled with a file number which makes ordering reprints even easier for you. Can I buy the Digital files? The files are included in your package price!! Less then one year after your wedding date I will turn the digital files over to you for no additional cost. We recommend that you consider returning to us for your reprints in order for you to receive the highest quality prints. Nobody takes more pride in our images then we do. However you are under no obligation to do so. What are your payment terms? $100.00 retainer and a signed contract are required to officially book the date. The balance is due within 2 weeks of the wedding day. Are there any hidden charges? No. You will know your total before you book. I also hold to a quote. If you book at a particular quote, and the rates change (within 2 years) I will hold you to the quote. Do you charge for travel? I love to travel! There is no charge for travel within Dane and Jefferson counties. Beyond these counties I charge $.60/mile round trip after the first 30 miles. For one way travel over 3 hours an overnight stay may be required. Please contact me for a individualized quote on travel outside of Wisconsin.
